Abstract: El hombre andino considera a la hoja de coca como una planta sagrada, usada como alimento y medicina porque le proporcionaba energías extraordinarias para vencer la geografía accidentada de su habitad y porque curaba todos sus males. La hoja de coca es una excelente fuente nutricional, tiene altos contenidos de proteínas, vitaminas y minerales, las virtudes y beneficios medicinales de la hoja de coca se deben precisamente a sus 14 alcaloides naturales. El objetivo de la presente tesis fue realizado con el fin de estudiar y analizar el uso y los beneficios de la hoja de coca en los turistas que presentan síntomas relacionados al mal de altura, que nos sirvió para identificar el nivel de aceptación de la hoja de coca. Por medio de encuestas que se realizó a los turistas internacionales que están retornando a su país en el aeropuerto internacional Alejandro Velazco Astete, se obtuvo como resultados que el consumo de hoja de coca en forma de infusiones es usado como primera alternativa para mitigar los síntomas del mal de altura. Para las conclusiones se recomienda talleres y charlas de concientización al personal vinculado al turismo para lograr una información contundente que será transmitida y compartida con los turistas extranjeros.
The Andean man considers the coca leaf as a sacred plant, used as food and medicine because it gave him extraordinary powers to conquer the rugged geography of their habitat and because cured all ills. The coca leaf is an excellent nutritional source, has high contents of proteins, vitamins and minerals, the virtues and medicinal benefits of the coca leaf are precisely due to their 14 natural alkaloids. The aim of this thesis was carried out in order to study and analyze benefits of the coca leaf in tourists who have symptoms related to altitude sickness, which helped us to identify the level of acceptance of the coca leaf. By means of surveys held international tourists who are returning to their country at the international airport Alejandro Velazco Astete, was obtained as results that the consumption of coca leaves in the form of infusions is used as a first alternative to mitigate the symptoms of altitude sickness. For the conclusions recommended workshops and awareness talk’s personnel linked to make a forceful information that will be transmitted and shared with foreign tourists.
