Objective: Compare the in vitro fracture resistance of Herculite precis resin light-cured with a LED lamp and a halogen lamp. Materials and methods: The study was experimental, prospective, observational and of cabinet. Sampling was non-probabilistic for convenience, the sample consisted of 30 specimens that were in optimal condition for evaluation and were distributed in two groups: 15 specimens subjected to light curing with halogen light and subdivided into three groups of five elements and another group of 15 specimens subjected to photopolymerization with LED light and subdivided into three groups of five elements to be evaluated according to light source at 20, 40 and 60 seconds of exposure. Results: The fracture resistance is similar for both photopolymerization systems. When comparing the resistance to fracture by exposure times between the LED photopolymerization system and the halogen light photopolymerization system, a significant difference was evidenced (p <0.05) After 20 seconds the resistance to fracture with the LED lamp was 0.23 kl / N and with the halogen light lamp it was 0.21 Kl / N. At 40 seconds the fracture resistance with the LED lamp was 0.23 kl / N and with the halogen light lamp it was 0.26 Kl / N. After 60 seconds, the fracture resistance with the 0.240 kl / N LED lamp and the halogen light lamp was 0.243 Kl / N. Concluded :that the resistance to fracture in kilo / Newtons of the Herculite resin Precis light-cured with the Halogen lamp and LED where the average of the fracture with the Halogen lamp was 0.236 Kl /, with the LED lamp the resistance to the fracture had an average of 0.233 kl / N, As it is observed the greater resistance to the fracture was for the Halogen light in relation to the LED light, this difference of means according to the Student's t test was not significant (p> 0.05) .
