Learning is this process that allows the construction of knowledge, this is the present study whose objective is to determine the relationship between learning strategies and academic performance of students in the basic professional training courses of the Professional School of Stomatology of the Universidad Andina Of Cusco during the semester 2014-II. The research is substantive and descriptive-relational, using the Learning Strategies instrument designed by José I. Among the results we can mention that predominantly 63.2% use the learning strategies on average; Of which affective motivational type are predominantly 65.5%. The use of metacognitive strategies is predominantly low in 17% and they are in condition of failing in their subjects; While 38% of the students who use this strategy on average are in the approved condition. It is also observed that 17% of students where the use of strategies related to the area of behavior and support is low are in the condition of failing in their subjects; While 43% of the students who use this strategy on average are in the approved condition. The 65.5% use moderately the motivational and affective strategies referred to orientation of achievement, persistence, self-efficacy, self-esteem, emotional self-control. 54.4% of the students use medium contextual interaction strategies related to work with their peers and teachers, cooperative learning, participation in groups and context of study, etc. It concludes that there is a significant relationship between learning strategies and students' academic performance for p = 0.000 <0.05.
