Due to the rapid growth of the vehicle fleet and the scarce improvement of the physical conditions of the cities, vehicular congestion has become one of the main urban problems, which is why today road and urban planning is of the utmost importance. The main objective of this research thesis was to analyze the operational difference, by calculating service levels, the use of open roundabouts (partitions or sandwich type) versus modern roundabouts in the Expressway project developed by COPESCO Regional Government Cusco. For the determination of traffic conditions, the gauges were used in fields made in the field at said intersections, considered the hours of greatest demand. Likewise, to determine the geometric conditions of the intersections, the topographic survey was carried out. With the obtained data, we proceeded to calculate the road capacity and service level based on the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM 2010) which is incorporated in the VISSIM simulation software, this software allowed us to perform the simulation of said intersections in their actual state. The road system was analyzed in two scenarios, in its current design situation with open type roundabouts and modern roundabouts. With these results, a comparative analysis of the two designs was carried out.
