The present investigation work entitled LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND AUTOMATION PRACTICES IN SETTLEMENTS OF THE CITY CENTER OF SANTA MARÍA, DISTRITO MARANURA. CUSCO, YEAR 2018, whose objective was to determine the level of knowledge and practices of self-medication in residents of the Populated Center of Santa María, Maranura District. Cusco, 2018; being a descriptive and transversal study; the sample consisted of 127 heads of family, who met the inclusion criteria. The results show: Regarding the general characteristics, it is evident that 44.1% of the inhabitants of Santa María are between 30 and 59 years old, 63.8% of the respondents are male, 39.4% have a secondary education and 5.5% without instruction, 37% are cohabiting, while 7.8% are divorced, 24.4% have occupation of employees, 55.1% of the inhabitants have economic income of less than 850.00 and only 8.7% greater than 1600.00. Regarding the knowledge about Self-medication, 68.5% have bad knowledge, 22.8% regular and 8.7% good. As for the practices on Self-medication 48.8% consumed according to their illness, 55.1% consumed medically between two or three doses a day, 29.9% indicated that the main annoyance that led to the consumption of medication was headache, 39, 4% consumed paracetamol, 37.8% did so on the recommendation of a professional, 34.7% did not go to the Health Center due to economic difficulty, 41.7% bought drugs in pharmacies and pharmacies, 37.8% had as motive for purchase of medicines respiratory infections.
