Introduction: Residual choledocholithiasis is a pathology defined as the presence of stones in the bile duct in the first two years after a cholecystectomy. Objective: To determine the risk factors associated with the development of choledocholithiasis in cholecystectomized patients at the Antonio Lorena Hospital of Cusco during the period 2019 - 2021. Materials and Methods: The study is analytical, retrospective and cross-sectional, case-control type. The population is 512 medical records taken from the General Surgery Area in the period 2019 - 2021, a simple random probabilistic sampling (MAS) was applied, from which a sample size of 184 records was obtained, using the statistical program EPIDAT version 4.2 The data collection sheet was validated by expert judgment and analyzed in the SPSS version 27 program. The chi- square statistical test was used to find the association between the qualitative variables to be contrasted. Likewise, the Odds Ratio (OR) values were obtained with their respective confidence intervals to establish whether or not the independent variable is a risk factor for the appearance of choledocholithiasis (dependent variable). Results: Of the total of 184 cases analyzed, 20.6% developed residual choledocholithiasis. The risk factors with a statistically significant association are: sex (p=0.01) OR of 4.2, age (p=0.02) OR of 2.8, diabetes (p=0.00) OR of 3.9, family history (p=0.00) OR of 4.5, sonographic diameter of the common bile duct (p=0.00) OR of 3. Conclusions: As risk factors of residual choledocholithiasis were found: sex, age, diabetes, family history and sonographic diameter of the common bile duct.
