The present research aims to improve the physico-mechanical properties of gypsum. To this end, additions of lime and cement were performed in percentages of 10%, 20% and 30% as a partial replacement in the production of gypsum paste for the production of standardized test specimens. The experiments were carried out with the rigor of the standard UNE-EN 13279-2: 2004 and initially started with the determination of the water / gypsum ratio establishing reference values corresponding to a gypsum paste made without additions, being considered as our values of departure. Based on the pulp flow method, it was possible to establish the values of water / gypsum ratio for gypsum pastes made with additions of lime and cement, the condition being that the runoff is within the limits established by UNE-EN 13279 -2: 2004. In this way we obtained a homogeneous runoff as a starting point. With the values of water / gypsum ratio obtained, tests were performed to start the set time and then proceed with the production of gypsum samples with dimensions and standard procedures, which were tested 7 days after their manufacture. Tests were carried out to determine the resistance to compression, flexure, Brinell hardness and water rise by capillarity. 4 x 4 x 16 cm specimens were made for flexural tests, the compression tests were performed on the remaining pieces after the flexure test, applying the load with a 4x4 cm metal plate. For the Brinell hardness evaluation, 2 x 4 x 16 cm specimens were prepared and tested with a 10 mm penetrator at controlled load and time. Finally, a capillary water ascension test was performed. The results are expressed in tables and graphs representing the variability with respect to the reference values obtained from the gypsum paste without additions.
