The present study was carried out in diabetic patients referred to the Adolfo Guevara Velasco Hospital, in the period January-April 2022 Cusco. Objective: The determination of the factors associated with depression in diabetic patients; as well as the prevalence, the realization of significant associations between depression and sociodemographic, clinical factors of depression. Method: The type of study was analytical, retrospective, with a cross-sectional design, where a sample made up of 111 diabetic patients was obtained, where both exclusion and inclusion criteria were met, who were contacted by WhatsApp and later sent from Google form, data that was collected to apply Pearson's chi-square between the associated factors and depression and identify if there is a significant association. Results: It will be decreased that the prevalence in diabetic patients with depression was 65.77%; there is a higher frequency of diabetic patients with depression in the female sex (64.38%, n=47); in the age range 60-80 years (50.68%; n=37); in married people (39.73%, n=29); patients with a complete higher education level (53.42%, n=39); unemployed patient (53.43%, n=39); in public regime (71.23%; n=52); in an urban area (73.97%, n=54); a time of diabetes of 0-5 years (36.99%, n=27); 0 hospitalizations (41.1%, n=30) and with oral administration method (63.01%, n=46). In the sex variable, a moderate positive statistical association was found (p<0.05), in the level of education (p<0.025) a high positive statistical association, in marital status (p<0.025) a high positive statistical association and the type of treatment (p< 0.025) high positive statistical association. Conclusions: It is concluded that there is a high prevalence of diabetic patients with depression in a percentage of 65.77%, the most frequent being female, married and with a complete higher education level. The factors that were significantly associated were sex, educational level, marital status and type of treatment with depression in diabetic patients.
