The present work entitled “CHARACTERISTICS OF COMPLEMENTARY FOOD IN CHILDREN OF 6 -12 MONTHS OF AGE WITH NUTRITIONAL PROBLEMS THAT COME TO THE URCOS CUSCO HEALTH CENTER, 2017.“ The objective was to determine the characteristics of Complementary Feeding in children aged 6-12. months of age with nutritional problems that come to the Urcos Cusco Health Center, 2017. The methodological design: it was cross-sectional descriptive, the population consisted of children of 6-12 months with nutritional problems. The sample was constituted by 120 children with nutrition problems that go to the Health Center Urcos-Cusco. The technique used was the interview and the instrument was the survey. The results show: Regarding the general characteristics of children 6-12 months of age with nutritional problems. 68% of children are female, 64% of children are between 6-8 months of age. On the characteristics of complementary feeding of children of 6-12 months of age with nutritional problems, 55% have started supplementary feeding at 6 months, in terms of frequency of feeding in children 6-8 months 40% receive 2 times a day and 912 months 40% consume food of 4 times more during the day, compared to the amount in children of 6-8 months 35% receive 5-7 tablespoons, the 49 % of children of 9-12 months receive more than 7 tablespoons, in terms of consistency 53% of children of 6-8 months eat porridge or puree foods and in children of 9-12 59% consume foods in consistency puree type porridge. As for the consumption of food. 50% consume cereals every day, 45% consume meat or its derivatives once a week, 63% of children 6-8 months consume fish once a week, in children from 9-12 months the 53% consume fish once a week, 43% of children consume tubers all day, 53% receive vegetables or garnishes once a week, 77% eat vegetables every day, 57% consume fruits all days, 45% consume sweets once a week, 34% consume oil or butter in their food interdiarily, 69% always consume iodized salt in their food,
