Stone Mastic Asphalt (S.M.A.) is a hot asphalt mixture that presents a discontinuous gradation, which is based on two fragments: first its granular structure is formed by the contact of stone with stone and the second fragment it is composed of a substantial mixture in asphalt, given its granulometry, requires a greater quantity of asphalt (6.5% min.), generating draindown in the S.M.A. asphalt mixtures, for which a stabilizing agent is necessary to avoid this phenomenon. Therefore, present thesis proposes the incorporation of Recycled Rubber Grain (GCR) as a partial substitute for coarse aggregate in a S.M.A. to verify its behavior with respect to a S.M.A. Standard Asphaltic Mix in terms of its physical-mechanical performance and costs. In relation to Asphalt Mixtures, same asphalt cement, stabilizing agent (cellulose fiber of bond paper), same aggregates have been used, varying only a percentage of coarse aggregate, the quality control of aggregates was also carried out, it was decided gradation based on a TMN, choosing 3 granulometric combinations (Gradation "A", Gradation "B" and Gradation "C") that obey the granulometric limits, then choose the gradation that met the minimums requirements for %Va, %VMA and VCAMixture<VCADRC, later chosse gradation that met minimum requirements for %Va, %VMA and VCAMixcla<VCADRC, continuing with choice of optimal asphalt content (6.0%, 6.5%, 7.0% and 7.5%) in order for mix to obey the void content requirement, for mix to meet the void percentage requirements, as well as the stabilizing agent was added (cellulose fiber of bond paper) at 0.3 % to avoid the phenomenon of draindown on the asphalt. Subsequently coarse aggregate was partially replaced by Recycled Rubber Grain (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) fulfilling the minimum requirements of the volumetric parameters. Once Optimal Gradation, Optimal Asphalt content, Optimal GCR content is defined, preparation of asphalt specimens continues to later determine performance of physical-mechanical properties through stability tests, moisture-induced damage, permanent deformation and costs, to validate use of Recycled Rubber Grain (GCR) in S.M.A. mixtures.
