Abstract The present investigation called “Evaluation of the water balance of the Piuray lagoon basin considering the most unfavorable scenario for the year 2040 according to the WEAP model, for the purpose of supplying the city of Cusco and Chinchero“ had the objective of evaluating the impact of anthropic activities on the micro-basin under study to the year 2040. For this purpose it was necessary to gather hydrometeorological information, which was provided by SENAMHI, later it was processed and completed by statistical methods that allowed us, in addition to having an adequate correlation, to project said parameters . In order to obtain results adjusted to the basin under study, it was necessary to carry out the regionalization of hydrometeorological parameters, which was carried out by means of procedures based on factors of altitude, distance and influence of the selected meteorological stations. In addition to the hydrometeorological parameters, geomorphological parameters of the basin were necessary, for which we need to model it in the ARCGIS software, using satellite information, parameters obtained through field visits and information provided by state entities, such as MINAM, MTC, EPS. SEDACUSCO, etc. Subsequently, the generation of flows was carried out using the methods proposed in the present investigation, in order to evaluate which one had a better fit to the basin. The Lutz Scholz model obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.777, while the Temez model obtained a coefficient of 0.707, for which the Lutz Scholz model was used to be applied within the water balance of the basin. The micro-basin was modeled using WEAP software, this in order to analyze various scenarios that could arise in 2040, with scenario 4 being the most unfavorable for the study area. This scenario indicates that the micro-basin should supply 30% of the population of the city of Cusco and the entire population of Chinchero. Finally, as a result of the evaluation carried out, the water balance for 2019 indicates that the micro-basin has an annual water supply of 22.83 MMC while the demand amounts to 17.12 MMC, leaving a volumetric variation of 5.71 MMC, the same as for the In the year 2040 (within the most unfavorable scenario) it is reduced to 1.46 MMC, which indicates that the basin will be able to withstand the most unfavorable scenario in 2040.
