The present work entitled “LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE ELDERLY ADULTS ON PREVENTION OF BLOOD HYPERTENSION IN THE HEALTH CENTER LARES - 2017“. The objective was to determine the level of knowledge of older adults about prevention of hypertension in the Health Center of Lares - 2017. The methodological design: it was cross-sectional descriptive, the sample population consisted of 93 older adults. The technique used was the interview and the instrument was the survey. The results were: Regarding the general characteristics of the elderly who come to the health center of the city, 61% are 65-70 years old, 54% are male, 41% have no instruction, 36 % live with other people who are not their closest relatives, 39% come from rural areas, 78% have blood pressure outside normal values and 54% have Castilian-Quechua as the predominant language. When evaluating the level of knowledge about the definition, 78% do not know about arterial hypertension, 76% responded incorrectly or do not know what the average normal values of blood pressure are, 57% answered incorrectly about the symptoms of high blood pressure, 63% answered incorrectly about how often blood pressure should be checked approximately, 75% answered incorrectly about those who are at risk of high blood pressure, 54% if they know which fruits and vegetables should be consumed to avoid high blood pressure, 65% If you know what foods are harmful to your health, 51% do not know which foods should be eaten sparingly, 89% answered incorrectly about how often you should take walks, 54% if you know how long each walk should last. In conclusion it was obtained that 41% have a bad knowledge, 36% regular knowledge and 23% a good knowledge about the prevention of arterial hypertension
