Objective: The study aimed to determine the relationship between anemia and quality of life among patients in a hemodialysis program at an altitude of 3369 meters above sea level at the ESSALUD Cusco Hospital in the year 2022. Method: The study was cross-sectional, observational and retrospective; The population was made up of patients with chronic kidney disease and anemia receiving renal replacement therapy (hemodialysis) admitted to the nephrology service of the ESSALUD Hospital of Cusco during the period from January to December 2022. The sample was obtained through a census. sampling having a sample of 119 patients with anemia readjusted to the height level, the technique used was the survey and the instrument the SF-36 questionnaire to evaluate quality of life and a questionnaire on the Graffar scale to measure the socioeconomic stratum, in addition to the registration of epidemiological and laboratory data. Results: 62.3% of patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis and anemia are male; 47.9% are over 60 years old; 67.2% are married or cohabiting, 74.8% come from urban areas and 40.3% identify as independent workers. 61.3% of patients have moderate anemia and 42.9% of patients have hypertensive nephropathy as the main cause of their disease and 64.7% of patients receive hemodialysis for 1 to 5 years; Likewise, 62.2% of the patients belong to the middle socioeconomic stratum (III). Relationships were found in the social, psychological and physical dimensions in patients with anemia and chronic kidney disease. In the social dimension; sex, occupation and severity of anemia influence (p < 0.05). In the psychological dimension; sex, age, time on hemodialysis and severity of anemia are relevant (p < 0.05). In the physical dimension; occupation, socioeconomic status and severity of anemia have an impact (p < 0.05). Conclusion: There is a direct and significant relationship between the quality of life in the physical, social, and psychological dimensions and the anemia of patients with chronic kidney disease at 3369 meters above sea level.
