Background: Atrial fibrillation is the most frequent arrhythmia. Between 2010 and 2014 there was a 40% increase in consultations due to atrial fibrillation, which it is essential to know the associated factors because without an adequate control of the person they will have lethal complications The objective is to determine the Atrial Fibrillation`s associated factors in National Adolfo Guevara Velasco hospital, EsSalud - Cusco, 2017 Methods: An observational cross-sectional analytical study of cases and controls will be carried out. A sample of 236 patients (118 cases and 118 controls) will be used. The clinical histories will be reviewed through simple random sampling. To evaluate the association will be used Odds Ratio and the statistical significance will be evaluated through the values of “p“ calculated from the Chi square. Results: The factors associated with atrial fibrillation were arterial arterial hypertension (OR: 3.71, 95% CI [2.16 - 6.34], p = 0.00), heart failure (OR: 9.28, 95% CI [2.70 - 31.86] p = 0.00), heart disease (OR:6.53, IC95%[2.17 – 19.60], p=0.00), Coronary artery disease (OR: 8.45, 95% CI [1.89 - 37.82] p = 0.00), history of pneumonia (OR: 6.39, 95% CI [2.36-17.29] p = 0.00), presenting other extra cardiac diseases (OR: 2.24 IC95% [1.21 - 4.15] p = 0.00970) and being female (OR: 11.09, IC95% [4.844 - 16.129] p = 0.00). Conclusions: Atrial fibrillation in our environment occurs more frequently in patients with hypertension, heart failure, coronary artery disease, pneumonia, older ages and females.
