The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between the degree of anxiety and the intensity of dental pain during root canal treatment in patients who come to the Belen Parish Polyclinic. It is a type of scientific research with a quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive, descriptive, cross-sectional design and correlational in scope. The study sample consisted of 50 patients of both genders with ages ranging from 18 years and older. The Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS) was used to collect data on the degree of anxiety before the patients received treatment and the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was used to measure the intensity of pain at the end of root canal treatment. It was shown that 90% of the sample presented some degree of anxiety, and it was also corroborated that there is an association between the degree of anxiety and the age group since it decreases with increasing age, and no significant association was found between the degree of anxiety and male or female sex. As for pain, it was shown that those who perceived greater intensity of post-treatment pain were men in comparison with women, being women those who tolerated pain more, and according to age, it was confirmed that the younger the age, the greater the intensity of pain. Thus concluding that the degree of anxiety is directly and positively related to the intensity of pain, where the greater the degree of anxiety, the greater the intensity of pain.
