General objective: To determine the relationship between medical prescription of antibiotics and acute diarrhoeal disease in paediatric patients aged 5-12 years in the Belenpampa health centre during the period 2021-2022. Hypothesis: There is a relationship between medical prescription of antibiotics and acute diarrhoeal disease in paediatric patients aged 5-12 years. Method: Type of research: Basic study, non-experimental design, cross-sectional and qualitative approach. Population: Patients with acute diarrhoeal disease between 5 - 12 years of age attended at the Belenpampa health centre in the period 2021 - 2022. Sample: 278 patients. Data collection technique: Review of medical records. Instrument: Data collection sheet. Results: For the correlation between antibiotic prescription and acute diarrhoeal disease p-value of 0.422 > 0.05, there is no significant relationship. The p-value for the correlation between physician prescribing and indiscriminate use of antibiotics in acute diarrhoeal disease is 0.008 < 0.05 Spearman correlation coefficient 0.159, resulting in a positive correlation of very weak magnitude. The correlation between antibiotic prescription and the indiscriminate use of antibiotics in acute diarrhoeal disease has a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a correlation coefficient of 0.736, representing a positive correlation of medium magnitude. Antibiotics were prescribed for the management of acute diarrhoeal disease in 83.8 % (233) of patients seen. 88.4% of patients were inadequately managed with antibiotic prescription. General practitioners were the most frequent prescribers of antibiotics, with a frequency of 64.8% compared to paediatricians.
