The district of Cotabambas in the Apurímac region is considered one of the districts with the greatest mining potential in Peru. One of the most representative projects in Cotabambas, the Panoro S.A mining project, has made important investments that have boosted economic growth in the last ten years with possible economic effects on employment, income and consumption of families in the district of Cotabambas, province of Cotabambas, department of Apurimac. In this sense, the present investigation entitled "MINING INVESTMENT AND ITS IMPACT ON THE ECONOMIC GROWTH OF THE COTABAMBAS DISTRICT, COTABAMBAS PROVINCE, APURÍMAC REGION: CASE OF MINERA PANORO S.A, 2021" has as its main objective: Identify the impact of mining investment of Panoro S.A. in the economic growth of households in the district of Cotabambas, province of Cotabambas in the year 2021, as the main hypothesis: The mining investment of Panoro S.A has a positive effect on the economic growth of households in the district of Cotabambas, province of Cotabambas in the year 2021. The research uses primary source information collected through a survey of 231 households in the Cotabambas district, and secondary information from the contract made with the Peruvian State and the National Household Survey. The research has a scope of descriptive and correlational study, it is non-experimental and quantitative. Theories considered include neoclassical economic growth theory, mining spillover theory, and local economic development theory. The results find that an increase of 100 soles in the per capita investment of Panoro S.A. generates an increase of 60 soles in monthly family consumption and 78 soles in monthly family income. Likewise, it has been identified that people employed in the mining sector earn up to 1,965 additional soles (at the individual level) and 2,161 additional soles (at the family level) compared to those who work in the agricultural sector. Significant increases are also seen in activities associated with mining, such as construction and business. On the other hand, a significant gender gap has been identified between the jobs of men and women, with men being the most benefited by the economic growth of the Cotabambas district. In particular, women do not participate in the mining or public sector and have higher incomes in the business sector (street vending, hostel management).
