The seismic silence faced by the city of Lima has underscored the need to secure essential structures to enhance their responsiveness. In this context, the most emblematic hospitals in the province are primarily old structures over 60 years old, built without consideration of current seismic-resistant regulations or the quality of materials used at the time, making them vulnerable to a major earthquake. One of the oldest and most vulnerable hospitals is the National Teaching Hospital Madre Niño "San Bartolomé", according to a study conducted in 2013 by the Peruvian Japanese Center for Seismic Research and Disaster Mitigation (CISMID). To mitigate this issue, both conventional reinforcements such as welded wire mesh (CSM) and unconventional ones like fiberglass (GFRP) and carbon fiber (CFRP) have been proposed to enhance the shear strength of unreinforced masonry walls, which lacked adequate strength against a major earthquake. To compare results, the structure was idealized, and its capacity evaluated both unreinforced and reinforced using a non-linear static analysis called Pushover. The Pushover analysis revealed that the structure exhibited improved behavior with CFRP reinforcement without anchors. However, the structure reinforced with CSM showed greater ductility compared to other proposals.
