Abstract Playing is fundamental in human life; all cultures play. This research addresses the topic of playing and arises from the observation that early education centers in urban areas are increasingly developing in small spaces, confining children within four walls, hindering their motor skills, and offering few alternatives for collective recreation based on social values, such as empathy, problem-solving, and teamwork, which children display, among others. We believe that reviving traditional games, specifically the game of Hopscotch, is a way to promote values. Therefore, this research reviews information about traditional games and their contribution to educational skills for the integral development of the child. We believe that this research can help other teachers develop an interest in incorporating traditional games into the education of young children and in further investigating the Hopscotch game, including its various forms. Keywords: traditional games, gross motor skills, social skills, coexistence, socialization.
