The present work was carried out at the Irrigation Research and Extension Center (CIER) – Universidad Nacional Agraria la Molina (UNALM), in the months of June-December 2022, with the objective of determining the effect of four irrigation sheets on yield, quality, and efficient water use in purple corn (Zea mays. L). A completely randomized design (DCA) was used with three repetitions, in a plot with an area of 1713.75 m2. Each treatment consisted of replenishing the equivalent to 40% (T1), 70% (T2), 100% (T3) and 130% (T4) of the reference evapotranspiration (Eto). The treatment that replaced 130% of the Eto (T4) allowed the maximum yield and quality with a value of 10054.81 kg ha-1 and the highest efficient use of water (UEA) was obtained by the treatment where the 40% of the Eto (T1), with a value of 3.8 kg m-3, there are statistically differences between the treatments. The production function was obtained that was adjusted to a third degree polynomial with R=0.9814. The four treatments did not present significant differences in the NDVI values obtained despite the fact that some were in water deficit. In general, the agronomic variables evaluated, such as plant height, ear length, ear diameter, grain weight, number of rows and number of grains per row, did not present significant differences in the four treatments. With the results obtained, the economic analysis was carried out and all treatments are economically profitable. However, the conditions that La Molina presents, the increasingly scarce water availability and the high price of water, the strategy to follow based on the availability of water is that of efficient use of water (T1), but not the obtaining maximum returns (T4).
