The present work is carried out to obtain the professional title as a fishing engineer by the modality of professional sufficiency and its objectives are to compare the results of two methodologies for the detection of Salmonella spp. in fishmeal, which are described in the ISO 6579 and in the alternative method VIDAS UP Salmonella SPT; as well as evaluating the number of fishmeal samples analyzed in the microbiology laboratory for the detection of Salmonella spp. by the ISO 6579 method in the years 2017 to 2021, with this evaluation it was observed that the number of positive results was approximately 1.4%. of all the samples analyzed and it was concluded that it would be favorable to use the alternative method to detect Salmonella spp. in fishmeal since it would improve the delivery time of negative results to 24 hours. For this work, the verification of the method was carried out, for which the following documents were used as reference: ISO 16140 standard, summary report VIDAS UP Salmonella (VIDAS SPT Ref.30707) and internal procedures of the NSF PERU laboratory, for the use of the equipment and foundation From the alternative method, training was received from the staff of the SIMED company, as well as the experience and knowledge acquired as a microbiologist analyst was applied, to carry out the verification of the method, it was artificially contaminated with 3 to 5 CFU of microbiological strains of interest with different ATCC to the initial suspensions, and a control suspension without inoculation called blank was used. These suspensions were analyzed by the method, the parameters of acceptability, exclusivity, and inclusivity of the results issued by this method were analyzed.
