Introduction: Adequate consumption of energy and protein, together with physical activity, would promote the development of muscle mass and strength in adolescent athletes, characteristics necessary for a soccer player to be able to perform in their daily training with the highest possible performance. Objectives: Determine the relationship between food intake and muscle mass in adolescent soccer players in the reserve category of the Sporting Cristal club, Lima 2022. Method: The study design was descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional. The study population was composed of 30 young people between 16 and 21 years, who met the eligibility criteria. To calculate food intake a 24-hour food consumption reminder was applied; in addition, to find the amount of muscle mass, an anthropometric evaluation of 5 components was carried out in each of the soccer players in the reserve category. Results: The average energy of the soccer players was 2620 kcal (±126,5), proteins x̄=100,9 g/d (±8,9), carbohydrates x̄=383,5 g/d (±18,5), and fats x̄=75,8 g /d (±7,4). The results show us that there is a direct relationship between proteins (Rho=0,82 p=0,0487) and carbohydrates (Rho=0,78, p=0,0329), with muscle mass at an optimal level and there is no relationship with fats (p=0,058). Conclusions: It is statistically demonstrated that there is a significant relationship between the consumption of macronutrients such as protein and carbohydrates with the state of muscle mass; except with fat intake in which no significant relationship was found with the state of muscle mass in adolescent soccer players.
