Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease, identified by a high level of glucose in the blood, which can be caused by the patient's lifestyles, related to an unhealthy diet. The objective of the study was to determine the level of knowledge about healthy eating in diabetic people in a hospital program in Lambayeque, 2023. Quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive and cross-sectional study. The population was made up of 120 adults belonging to the CAIDIL program, the sample being 92 of them, simple random probabilistic sampling. The survey was used as a technique and the questionnaire titled “Knowledge about healthy eating in diabetic patients” was used as an instrument, which was validated by expert judges with a high agreement of 0.95; and reliability was obtained by Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.764, considered acceptable. The instrument consists of 2 parts; the first in sociodemographic data of the participant and the second made up of 16 items related to the three dimensions. Data processing was carried out in Microsoft Excel, descriptive statistics of relative and absolute frequencies were used, and they were presented in bar graphs. In this research, the ethical criteria of the Belmont report were taken into account. The results obtained were, average level of knowledge regarding: healthy eating (64.13%), and in terms of generalities (67.39%), nutritional aspects (96.74%) and meal preparation (63.04%). It is concluded that the majority of diabetic people have a medium level of knowledge, due to insufficient and/or disorganized information on the subject.
