The objective of this study is to provide a proposal for improvement in the manufacturing of generating sets through the lean Manufacturing methodology in a metalworking company. The sample is the manufacturing processes of the generating sets, the observation and survey technique is used to obtain process information. Within the investigation, late deliveries were identified as the main problem, which causes the company a loss of S/. 273,624.00 for overtime, reprocessing and penalties; The current rate of late deliveries is 78%, which is below the sector average. This problem is generated by unproductive times in the process, this represents 50% of the monthly amount in loss and secondly the work method through failures in the welding process, which has an average index of 6.71% per month. month with respect to the inspection quantities, which represents 46% of the monthly amount in losses. As a result of the implementation by applying the plant distribution-SLP, standardization and 5S tools, it was possible to obtain an improvement in the on-time delivery rate from 78% to 97%, in addition to a decrease in the manufacturing time of 1945 min to 1845, which impacts G.E's manufacturing quantity per month from 44 to 46 generator sets and finally a decrease in the welding failure rate from 6.71% to 3%.
