Objective: determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the application of breastfeeding practices in mothers of children under 2 years of age who attend the Special Projects Health Post, in San Juan de Lurigancho, during the period 2024. Materials and methods: the approach was quantitative, cross-sectional and correlational design. The study population was made up of 49 mothers of children under 2 years of age who attended the Special Projects Health Post during the months of April and May of this year. The sample was census. Results: in terms of age, 34.7% are 25 years old or younger, 30.6% are between 26 and 30 years old, 16.3% are between 31 and 35 years old, 10.2% are between 36 and 40 years old, and 8.2% are between 36 and 40 years old, and 8.2% are between 36 and 40 years old. % are over 41 years old. The majority of mothers, 46.9% (N=23), have a medium level, followed by 32.7% of mothers (N=16) who have a low level of knowledge, and 20.4% (N=10) have a high level. 63.3% of mothers (N=31) practice breastfeeding correctly, while 36.7% (N=18) do it incorrectly. There was a two-sided asymptotic significance of 0.000. Therefore, since the significance values are lower than the conventional significance level (p < 0.05), the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. Conclusions: there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the application of breastfeeding practices in mothers of children under 2 years of age who attend the Special Projects Health Post, in San Juan de Lurigancho, 2024.
