In this civil engineering thesis, the level of service of the South Pan-American Highway km 15 to km 16 was evaluated, due to dense traffic. For this reason, a microsimulation was developed in the places already mentioned. This refers to a study in a non-experimental design of a descriptive nature, with a sample in which data must be collected to know the level of vehicle capacity at its different points. On the aforementioned South Pan-American Highway, the data collected was introduced into the Vissim software for the use of a microsimulation model. The development of the microsimulation model was carried out to see the level of capacity, travel time and queue length, to examine the feasibility of solving the problem by improving the measurement criteria. The results found that the most crowded vehicle capacity level was 2941 Veh/h. The travel time showed an average of 487.34 seconds and a queue length of 370.29 m. Given the information obtained in this study, the implementation of public transport stops was suggested as an improvement, so that this infrastructure would optimize vehicle congestion so that the said areas do not become crowded to the point of collapse.
