Many of the studies carried out on the knowledge of ICT tools for learning have involved teachers or students as participants (e.g., Cariaga, 2018; Garcilazo, 2020; Umbert, 2017; Vílchez et al., 2022). However, in Peru, there are few studies about the role of parents in the management of ICT tools to support the education of their children. The purpose of this research was to explore the perceptions of mothers and fathers about their needs and challenges with the use of ICT tools to accompany emergency remote learning (2020-2021) of second grade primary school students of a private educational institution in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, Peru. The study’s approach was qualitative with a phenomenological analysis design. To achieve the objective of the study, 20 semi-structured interviews were conducted, which were analyzed based on the categories and dimensions identified. It was found that the participants recognized not only the importance of ICT management to accompany the learning of their children, but also the impact that ICT mastery has in different areas of life. Therefore, they expressed interest in continuing to learn different digital tools. In addition, regarding the responsibility for the learning of school-aged children, the participants expressed that it is a responsibility shared by both the teacher and the parents. Likewise, a group of participants assumed that it was necessary to monitor Internet access and control the time of use of the technologies.
