Introduction: Speech Sound Disorder (SSD) is an alteration in the production of speech sounds that can be phonetic and/or phonological. Therefore, the PROMPT method is considered because it presents scientific evidence. This method is multisensory and takes into account the particularity of each patient. Objective: To describe the considerations of the PROMPT method in a 9-year-old patient with Phonetic-Functional Speech Sound Disorder (SSD) in the phoneme /r̄/ in a private center in Lima during the period from January to March 2024. Description of the work: An intervention was carried out on a 9-year-old patient with Speech Sound Disorder (SSD), who attended twice a week for three months. The PROMPT method was implemented in the treatment, which was divided into three phases, considering the scientific evidence. Results: The PROMPT method considerations favored the correct acquisition of the phoneme /r̄/, achieving positive results, which allowed the integration of the phoneme into words, phrases, sentences and conversations spontaneously. Conclusions: The PROMPT method considerations in a patient with functional phonetic speech sound disorder (FSD) are the evaluation of the domains, identification of the motor hierarchy of speech and the functional use of language.
