The city is the meeting place par excellence, where buildings and public space allow people to share, live and grow. Over time the city is formally and functionally transformed, the buildings change according to the needs of the population and the social, cultural and economic activities they carry out. In this way, there are buildings, infrastructures and spaces that, in this social and cultural maelstrom, can have new uses; However, others with less luck go into a state of abandonment or disuse, which means an untapped opportunity to improve the living conditions of the population. It is in this context, between the needs of people and the possibility of using buildings, in which recycling in architecture becomes a tool with the enormous potential to transform. In the present investigation, the current problem in the local context is explored and analyzed, based on the existing needs and activities, from a building scale with an impact on the urban scale. Thus, the case study is in the Historic Center of Lima, through a recycling project in the Ferrand Building, with an intervention proposal with the aim of developing a recycling proposal according to the concepts of identity revaluation. and the urban imaginary through collective housing.
