The objective of this study was to determine the clinical factors that are related to the abandonment of Antiretroviral Treatment of Great Activity (HAART) in patients treated at the Regional Hospital of Loreto 2004-2016, the research was observational, analytical and retrospective cohort, the sample was constituted by 776 patients in HAART, for the data collection a questionnaire applied to the HAART and clinical histories files was used. The data were subjected to a bivariate analysis and survival applying Kaplan Meier to the variable abandonment of HAART and the actuarial method or life table to the independent variables. Results: 43.3% with ages between 26 and 35 years; 70.4% male, 71.5% were general population; 47.4% started therapy with AZT, 3TC and EFV; 56.6% had CD4 levels lower than 200 Cells / mL, 97.3% had a "detectable" viral load greater than or equal to 50 copies / mL, 51.8% of them had a higher "non-high" viral load or equal 100,000 copies per milliliter, 61.3% patients presented a Risk of Disease Progress of 42%, 37 patients presented opportunistic infections of them 83.8% were due to Tuberculosis. The variable age and abandonment of HAART gave a chi-square of 14,559 with 4 degrees of freedom and a p-value of 0.006; Clinical factors such as initiation scheme, CD4 T lymphocyte levels, "Detectable" viral load, "high" viral load and opportunistic infections had p values greater than 0.05. The shortest time from the beginning of HAART to the abandonment was recorded in patients older than 56 years (123.56 months). It is concluded that the clinical factors are not associated with the abandonment of patients to HAART; however, patients with the ABC + 3TC + EFV scheme leave the therapy in less time in relation to the other schemes; age is significantly associated with the abandonment of HAART.
