The objective of this research study was to assess the effectiveness of a learner training program based on Excel in order to improve Foreign Language Teacher Training Program students’ problem resolution skills in mathematics II at the National University of the Peruvian Amazon, Iquitos 2019. The type of study was evaluative and field study, contemporary transectional, univariable, and quasi experimental in design with pre-test, post-test and control group. The study population was made up by 287 students, enrolled in the 2019-II term and a deterministic sample of 44 mathematics II students. 18 students made up the control group and 26 students the experimental group. Results show that after the learner training program, the experimental students outperformed the control group students as their mean scores were higher (11,12 > 7,66). The same happened in the dimensions: Problem resolution with matrixes (13,05 > 10,00), problem resolution that involve functions (9,22 > 5,31). In conclusion, the learner training program based on Excel improved significantly the study population students’ problem resolution skills, as p-value = 0.000 < α = 0.05, accepting the alternative hypothesis.
