Herbal medicines are widely used throughout the world. The Mun¬dial Health Organization has promoted traditional medicine and has guidelines for quality control so that these herbal medicines are safe and effective. Natural pollution and from human activities made it necessary to monitor the levels of heavy metals in herbs medicinales.1 In this paper the identification and quantification of lead and cadmium in leaves Myrciaria species dubia (Kunth) Mc performed. Vaughn and pigeon pea (L) Huth marketed both in the city of Iquitos for their ethnomedicinal use. The study was descriptive and the sample was obtained by convenience in the herbal market "Psje. Paquito "market alongside Bethlehem metals concentrations were determined by flame atomic absorption. In the results, none of the species studied lead exceeded the limits of 10 ug / g for herbal medicines suggested by WHO. In the three samples Myrciaria dubia (Kunth) Mc. Vaughn, has an average of concentrations below detection limits <0.05 ug / g Cajanus cajan (L) Huth has an average concentration of 0.310 mg / g. For the permissible limits for cadmium herbs 0.30 ug / g suggested by WHO was observed: the average concentrations of cadmium in Myrciaria dubia (Kunth) Mc. Vaughn, were below the limits of detection of <0.001 g / g; however the results of the species Cajanus cajan (L) Huth did not exceed these limits with an average concentration of 0.156 mg / g.
