The objective of this research work had as its main purpose to establish the association between the attitudinal aspect of learning and academic performance in the area of English of first grade secondary students of the I.E. No. 0055 Manuel Gonzales Prada. The attitude, whether favorable or unfavorable, has had an impact on learning a foreign language, which is why this research was carried out. The methodology used is of a quantitative approach, of a non-experimental type and of a correlational design. The sample consisted of 29 students, this being a census sample. The technique used was the survey and the instrument a Likert scale questionnaire to measure the attitudinal aspect variable and the final grades to measure the academic performance variable, at the same time, the instruments were validated by expert judgment. After verifying the hypothesis, it is concluded that there is a positive relationship between the attitudinal aspect of learning English and academic performance.
