The objective of this research work is to publicize the implementation of a solid waste management program within the community of Yanamarca, belonging to the Junín region. The research has a mixed approach, that is, quantitative-qualitative. The guide established by the Ministry of the Environment for the application of the program was taken as a reference, based on the regulations of the Law on Comprehensive Solid Waste Management for the implementation of the program. The research began with an exhaustive diagnosis of the current management of solid waste, through observation and the use of surveys directed at the population. Likewise, the level of environmental awareness in the students of the 'Juan Velasco Alvarado' educational center in the aforementioned community was determined. Two surveys were used during the research process with the purpose of gaining knowledge about which topics should be reinforced. In the first survey, data was obtained that showed how little knowledge they had regarding solid waste, as well as how they were unaware of the problems that a dump could cause. After analyzing the first survey, talks were held in which they were informed about good solid waste management. Through the first survey, we also sought to know which waste was generated most inside their homes, with the purpose of giving it a second use. In this case, the organic remains were used to prepare an organic fertilizer, obtaining compost.
