The objective of this research work is to establish the significance between the two mentioned variables. We worked using a quantitative approach, non-experimental, transitional design, and it was estimated that 45 students were chosen under probabilistic sampling. The study took as instruments, for the dysfunctional families variable, a Dysfunctional Families Questionnaire, and for the second the data collection technique. The second variable academic performance has been assessed by an instrument based on the students' evaluation reports, with the dimensions: Dimension (1) Outstanding achievement, dimension (2) Expected achievement, Dimension (3) In process, Dimension (4) In the beginning. Using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, it was established that there is a high reliability of the instrument for the dysfunctional families variable. The results showed that there is an inversely proportional and significant correlation between the variables, with a Spearman value of -0.527 and a significance that does not exceed 0.050.
