This research addresses the issue of motivation to achieve and academic performance in times of the COVID-19 pandemic in English students at the Enrique Guzmán y Valle National University of Education, which seeks to investigate the efforts made by students to maintain or increase their attitudes, interests and abilities in their formative period and how it relates to their academic performance, despite confinement restrictions and the abrupt change in teaching and learning conditions due to the pandemic produced by COVID-19, which forced which forced a virtual or distance education. The research approach was quantitative, not experimental with a correlational design. The descriptive method was used to carry out the research, applying a questionnaire validated by expert judgment through the survey. The convenience sample consisted of 58 students of the English-French major of the class 2017 who were enrolled in the 2020-II academic year. After testing hypotheses, we came to the conclusion that achievement motivation is directly related to academic performance in times of the Covid-19 pandemic in English students of the sample, that is to say that the higher the level of achievement motivation reaches, the higher the level reached by academic performance, also according to the Spearman correlation of 0.602, this represents a high positive correlation.
