The objective of this research work is to reveal the link between the consumption of dietary fiber in times of COVID-19 and constipation in university students in Lima - Peru. The approach is quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, transversal. Methodology: Two questionnaires were applied to 162 university students, one for the diagnosis of constipation, here the Rome III criteria intestinal evacuation questionnaire was applied and another to know the frequency of consumption of plant foods rich in dietary fiber, for this the consumption frequency questionnaire. Results: The relationship between dietary fiber consumption and constipation was 0.377, indicating that there is no relationship between both variables. The prevalence of constipation among university students in Lima - Peru in times of COVID-19 corresponds to 23.46%, the female gender presented a prevalence of constipation of 28.7%, compared to the male gender which had a prevalence of 10.6%, the frequency of adequate consumption of foods rich in fiber was 37.65%, compared to 62.35% of students who have inadequate fiber consumption. Conclusions: No relationship was found between the consumption of foods rich in dietary fiber and constipation in university students from Lima-Peru, and the prevalence of constipation is low and predominant in the female gender.
