The objective of this research work is the study was developed with the main purpose of determining if it is that the variables self-esteem and academic performance have a reciprocal relationship, having been carried out in students who are in the sixth grade of primary school. The structure methodological adhered to the quantitative approach, in the case of the type used, this was basic, belonging to the non-experimental and correlational design, and with the descriptive method. Regarding the sample, probabilistic sampling was considered, resulting in 127 students. Regarding the technique and instruments used to collect the information, were the survey; and regarding the self-esteem variable, a questionnaire; and for academic performance the record of grades. The results achieved were the following: regarding the self-esteem variable, 74.0% reached a high level; in the case of academic performance, 75.6% reached an expected achievement. Finally, it was possible to conclude that, with a correlation level of 0.736 and a significance of 0.00, it was possible to identify the positive and high relationship that self-esteem and academic performance.
