The objective of this research work is to analyze the existence of a possible relationship between intrinsic or extrinsic motivations and the level of learning achievements in the area of C.T.A. of the students of the 2nd Grade of Secondary School of the Educational Institution 22 de Octubre of Urcurume de Cutervo, Cajamarca Region. The sample consisted of 31 students between 9 and 10 years of age. Considering the possible existence of sociodemographic variables associated with performance, a questionnaire was applied to collect data, which, due to its descriptive, interpretive and reflective potential, constituted an important tool in the analysis and evaluation of the results obtained. To evaluate the intrinsic and extrinsic motivations, a school motivation scale was applied, measured for the population, which contains 18 questions. Each of these questions contains 4 possible answers (two related to intrinsic motivation and two related to extrinsic motivation). Regarding the learning achievements in the C.T.A area, this was evaluated through the grades obtained by the students at the end of the academic year and which were awarded by their teachers. The analysis of the results showed that there is a relationship between motivation and learning achievement in the area of C.T.A, concluding that intrinsically motivated students perform better than extrinsically motivated students. In this way, we consider that the implementation of strategies in the classroom that promote intrinsic motivation will be more beneficial for the academic success of students.
