The present investigation studied the problem What is the relationship that exists between the leadership style of the director and the professional teaching performance in the public educational institution Leoncio Prado Military School? The population is constituted by the 257 members of the community leonciopadrina: directive personnel, teachers and students of the public educational institution Leoncio Prado Military School. Two questionnaires were administered, using a correlational design, to 154 people, using a probabilistic sampling with proportional affixation. The results indicate that the director's authoritarian leadership style is significantly related to the teacher's performance (r = 0.207, p <0.05); the director's democratic leadership style is significantly related to the teacher's performance (r = 0.501, p <0.05); and the director's liberal leadership style is significantly related to the teacher's performance (r = 0.363, p <0.05). In conclusion, the leadership style of the director is significantly related to the teaching performance at the public school Leoncio Prado Military School, because the descriptive statistics data show high percentages and inferential statistics, using the Pearson r coefficient (r = 0.523; p <0.05), therefore, the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted.
