The objective of this research work was emotional intelligence and academic performance in students. of the fifth grade of Primary Education of the Educational Institution N° 20955-13 Saracoto-UGEL 15 in the year 2020, quantitative research that is carried out with the goal of establish the relationship between the emotional intelligence variable and academic performance. HE worth of procedures such as the type of substantive research and the design not correlational cross-sectional experiment. The study was carried out on 40 students as non-probabilistic census sample of the study. To collect data on the variables, we used the questionnaire for emotional intelligence and the auxiliary record for performance academic, the first instrument was validated through expert judgment and it was found its reliability with the Cronbach's Alpha statistic, the result being 0.890 a strong reliability. The results indicate that students who show intelligence very high emotional level, 7.5% have outstanding academic performance; when emotional intelligence is high, 55.0% are in expected achievement; when intelligence emotional is medium level, 32.5% are in process; and finally when the emotional intelligence is low, 5.0% have an academic performance at the beginning. As main conclusion it was found that there is a direct and significant relationship between the emotional intelligence and academic performance in fifth grade students primary education of the Educational Institution No. 20955-13 Saracoto-UGEL 15 in the year 2020 (p ˂ 0.05, Spearman's Rho = 0.801, with a very high positive correlation).
