The objective of this research work is to demonstrate that problem teaching achieved the competencies of students in research seminar courses I and II at a university in Lima Norte, 2020; For this, problem teaching used a new academic context of class session scheduling; which consisted of solving problematic situations and the student's context through research and the use of creativity, so that the student develops his or her own conceptions and achieves the competencies in the aforementioned courses. The hypothetical-deductive method was applied, the research was applied, with a quasi-experimental design, the sample taken from the population was determined by statistical criteria, the data were collected using instruments called pre and post test that were subsequently processed statistically and reviewed. its results that were analyzed and interpreted in light of scientific theory; Their evidence led us to the following general conclusion: There is a significant influence of the application of problem teaching for the achievement of competencies, at a total level and by the dimensions: iidentifies, poses and solves problems; establishes levels of analysis, synthesis and abstraction; assumes the execution of its work with responsibility and commitment and establishes levels of oral and written communication, in the research seminar courses I and II at a University of Lima Norte 2020.
