Introduction: Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurological condition that impacts the way people communicate and interact socially. Approximately 1 in 100 children worldwide are affected by this condition. Therefore, early intervention in Speech Therapy is crucial for preventing, detecting, and rehabilitating communicative difficulties. Additionally, adequate training of professionals is essential for an ideal therapeutic approach. Objective: To describe the considerations for the application of the DIR/Floortime model to encourage communication in a child with a presumptive diagnosis of ASD during 2023 in northern Lima. Description of the Work: An early intervention was carried out using the DIR/Floortime model over a period of 6 months in a 2-year-old child with a presumptive level 2 ASD diagnosis, supported by scientific evidence from various countries. Conclusions: The minimum considerations for the application of the DIR/Floortime model based on our professional experience are: having a presumptive or confirmed ASD diagnosis, the health professional's knowledge and training; constant participation and commitment of parents in therapy sessions, and having the appropriate materials for the execution of therapies.
