Introduction: Speech Sound Disorders (SSD) are characterized by phonetic and/or phonological alterations compromising speech intelligibility. Therefore, it is important to have a protocol based on considerations supported by evidence that allows the learning of non-acquired sounds. Objectives: Describe the considerations for an intervention protocol for the /l/ phoneme in a 6-year-old patient with functional Speech Sound Disorder from a private center in metropolitan Lima during the period December 2023 – January 2024. Work Description: An /l/ phoneme intervention was conducted for a 6-year-old girl with functional TSH. The treatment lasted 6 weeks, where a protocol was implemented consisting of 5 phases that address the /l/ sound in isolation, in syllables, words, phrases and conversations spontaneously. In addition, taking into account considerations based on scientific evidence. Results: The considerations facilitated the learning of the sound /l/, allowing better articulation of this phoneme in isolated sound, syllables, words, phrases and conversations spontaneously. Conclusions: The considerations of the protocol applied in our profesional experience include: the comprehensive approach to the phonetic-phonological components, the stages of learning speech sounds and beginning to work on the non-acquired sound according to its chronological appearance.
