The present research study addressed primary education teachers' perspectives on the teaching of natural sciences in public and private schools. The aim was to understand these perspectives regarding the teaching of natural sciences in four schools in Lima. To achieve this, a qualitative approach and a narrative design were employed. Two semi-structured interviews, one biographical and one narrative about teaching natural sciences, were conducted with a sample of four teachers: two from a public school and two from a private school. The results revealed perspectives that were consolidated through professional choices, the development of the teaching role, training in natural sciences, changes and continuities in the teaching of the subject, and the impact of teaching natural sciences. It was concluded that the teachers' perspectives exhibited different characteristics. In the case of teachers from public schools, it was observed that working in natural sciences required emotional support, addressed social challenges, and demanded greater equity in resources and priority. Regarding teachers from private schools, their perspective valued family integration and academic mastery but faced challenges such as a lack of collaboration, economic concerns, and the need for ongoing professional development. However, both perspectives converged on the need for effective natural sciences teaching, which requires well-being, adequate resources, recognition, and a transition from rote methods to situated practices.
