The consumption of substances such as alcohol is multifactorial, having conditions for its development, including those related to family and parental behavior, which influence the initiation and continuity of alcohol consumption in adolescents; characterized by low levels of cohesion, low tolerance for frustration, especially a family history of alcoholism and a dysfunctional family with a greater probability of risky alcohol consumption in the young population. Objective: determine the relationship between family functioning and alcohol consumption in parents with adolescent children in a community in Lima, march – may 2024. Material and methods: study with a quantitative approach, non-experimental, cross-sectional design and descriptive-correlational scope. The sample was made up of 123 parents with adolescents children from the AA.HH. The Northerners – The olive trees. The technique was the survey and as instruments the FACES III Test that evaluated family functioning and the AUDIT questionnaire that identified alcohol consumption. Results: family functioning is low (extreme range) with 69.1%, likewise, 42.3% have a medium level consumption. Conclusions: according to the Spearman Correlation Test having a value of (Rho = -0,410, p = 0.000), it is concluded that there is a significant negative or inverse relationship between family functioning and alcohol consumption in parents with adolescents children.
