Introduction: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that increases annually and presents communication difficulties. It is important to have a protocol based on considerations supported by evidence, which allow promoting communication through echolalia, commonly present in the language of children with ASD. Objectives: Describe the considerations for the application of a protocol that favors the communication of a 6-year-old child with autism spectrum disorder who presents echolalia during the period from May to December 2023 in Lima, Peru. Work Description: An intervention was carried out for a 6-year-old child diagnosed with level 2 ASD. The treatment was over 8 months, implementing a protocol that incorporates the use of echolalia as an integral part of the treatment, in addition to take into account evidence-based considerations. Conclusion: The minimum considerations for the protocol used in our professional experience are collection of language samples, intervention in prelinguistic and pragmatic skills, fragmentation of echolalia, and increase in the semantic lexical repertoire.
