Introduction: Low back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal pains in the population and therefore various solutions are sought. A physiotherapy treatment includes therapeutic exercises that encourage physical activity for good functional health. For this reason, stretching and strengthening techniques are applied for lumbago, where pain relief and improvement in dependency are obtained. Objective: Describe the considerations for the use of stretching and strengthening techniques in the physiotherapy treatment for an adult with mechanical low back pain in Lima, 2022-2023 Work description: The clinical case of an adult patient with mechanical low back pain is described with a physiotherapeutic approach, based on scientific evidence, with the application of stretching and strengthening techniques. This intervention is detailed in three stages, according to the patient's evolution, with specific objectives for each section. Favourable results for pain relief and level of dependency were obtained. Conclusion: Considerations were identified for the use of stretching and strengthening techniques in the physiotherapy treatment of low back pain, for pain relief and greater independence. These considerations are an anamnesis with a biopsychosocial approach, the use of myofascial release and TENS and CHC for pain, the practice of static stretching and isometric strength exercises, the promotion of the execution of exercises outside the session, among others.
