Background: Poor sleep quality and daytime sleepiness are more common than they appear and could be influenced by various sleep habits. Objective: To evaluate sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, and sleep habits in adolescents from four private schools in Lima, Peru. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. A sample of 305 students was obtained. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and the Pediatric Daytime Sleepiness Scale were applied, along with a sleep habits questionnaire. Results: Frequencies of 69.2% for poor sleep quality and 51.1% for daytime sleepiness were found. Regarding sleep habits that held an association with sleep quality and daytime sleepiness, 38.4% of students took prolonged naps during the evenings. 71% didn’t turn off their electronic devices 1 hour before sleep, 71.2% continued using their devices already in bed, and 56.1% didn´t follow a relaxation routine. Conclusions: Poor sleep quality was associated with taking naps longer than 1 hour in the afternoon, continuing to use electronic devices after bedtime, and sleeping with the light on. Daytime sleepiness was associated with not turning off electronic devices 1 hour before bed, not having a relaxation routine, and vaping, in addition to the first two habits previously mentioned.
