The objective of this documentary research is to analyze the psychosocial factors associated with quality of life in patients with chronic renal failure. Likewise, the following specific objectives are proposed: 1) describe the various definitions given to the concept of quality of life in research carried out in patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, 2) classify and describe the psychosocial factors associated with quality of life in patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, and 3) analyze the importance of psychological intervention in patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. For data collection, the use of search engines and databases such as Google Scholar, Dialnet, Redalyc, Scielo, Wiley, ProQuest and Scopus is included. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 10 articles were selected, all of them quantitative. Those factors that impact quality of life are identified, such as depression, anxiety, stress, social support and self-care. On the other hand, different definitions of quality of life are analyzed, identifying elements that favor the understanding of this variable and complement the definition proposed by the World Health Organization. Furthermore, it is concluded that the psychological approach to kidney patients is of utmost importance for improving their well-being and promoting adaptation to the disease. Finally, conclusions and recommendations for future work are provided.
